#MICROSOFT SURFACE DUO 2 REDDIT ANDROID#Compared to my fold 3, it was laggy, buggy, and even stripped of some basic android features. #MICROSOFT SURFACE DUO 2 REDDIT SOFTWARE#The software is bad, I mean really bad, pay-as-go Android phone bad. But once you're all set up and ready to go it all goes downhill. Camera bump didn't bother me as I never owned the first duo. The duo 2 is an amazing piece of hardware, one of the best looking devices I've ever owned. I made the same switch, smartest move I made was trying the duo 2 BEFORE selling the fold 3. Though they kind of compete with each other by default, I think they have distinctly different user bases for which they excel. I agree with your overall takeaways on folding devices too, with the first use case being best for Z Fold users and the latter being where the Duo 2 is at its best. Side-by-side sucks, and the outer screen doesn't seem like more than a "deal with this one thing really quickly" solution. I played with the Fold a couple of times, and the screens are just too narrow to feel effective in single-app scenarios that aren't on the large screen. I do agree on the Fold's form factor problems, though. I'd be curious to see how you feel about the thing in 6 months, with the hope that MS addresses the bugs and the charging port holds up. #MICROSOFT SURFACE DUO 2 REDDIT BLUETOOTH#Windows Central did note some Bluetooth issues, and I recall seeing a few people in here suggest their charging ports still seemed to have quality concerns. I was at Best Buy 2 days ago, playing with the Duo 2, and I had to reboot it twice because it first wouldn't load the home screen properly on the left display, then just didn't function properly at all (opening apps or basic navigation) after the first reboot. This sub has a lot of people still talking about software problems that require restarts to resolve. I'm a bit surprised to see your reasoning for disliking the first Duo, then deciding to jump onto the second so willingly. You actually need to get some important things done on your device and can mostly do it with one screen but two separate ones are better for that and media consumption + you don't need to look at your phone every two minutes because there's no external display You consume media mostly and text message/communicate. The takeaway is if you want a foldable device you're one of two people. No carrier supports the duo 2 meaning you can't finance it though a carrier. Much better in hand, suit, Briefcase or Bluetooth) Integration with all business, productivity and Microsoft office and enterprise related appsįorm factor (it's like a passport but kinda awkward in the pocket. 7-9 hours SOT for the duo 2 with heavy use vs 3-6 with the z fold 3) utility (for what it does and how convenient it is the battery is way more efficient here compared to the galaxy z fold 3. Emails, teams, chrome, Trello, text message, stocks- all easily accessible while multitasking all under the covers like a real 90's kid - Doug Funnie Smash Adams)īattery live vs. I recently had to stay home sick and forgot my M1 MacBook in my office- with the surface duo I didn't miss a beat. Intention- when you're using it, either one screen or both- you're totally doing what you're doing and fully into it. (warning- this device is for media consumption not productivity)įinality- When you're not using the duo only important calls and texts come to your smartwatch since the device doesn't have a normal external display Slim form factor with tablet option when unfoldedĭelicate screen (I broke 2 in my career since we're original galaxy z fold)īigger screen is amazing but is not at all efficient regarding multitasking. #MICROSOFT SURFACE DUO 2 REDDIT SERIES#The modern specs make it snapy enough for day-to-day use, and the form factor + integration with Microsoft makes it a business powerhouse.įor everyone's brief overview & TDLR, here are the differences between the Samsung Fold series and this windows duo device. It's so much more refined over the first model and now my daily driver. I just sold my galaxy fold 3 5g for the duo 2 after having it for a day. Ended up going back to the Samsung Galaxy Fold series. Cracked charger port, poor Bluetooth connection, random restarts. I talked down on the duo so much after having had (3) separate units of the first generation. ![]()
